Music Club

Washington Heights Classical Music Club

We meet and learn about music that will be on an upcoming classical music concert, and then go as a group to hear the concert.  Drawing on my years of extensive experience both as a performer and teaching music appreciation on the university level, I lead the group.  It is a great way to learn about music and listening and to get more out of the concert-going experience. Create an event for your own group or join the Washington Heights group.

First Club Meeting: Thursday March 5

Castle Village Classical Music Club

Come join with Maya Hartman and friends to learn about music and get ready to experience a classical music concert as a group. All are welcome to come in a comfortable atmosphere of curiosity and learning as we discover the beauty of works by Beethoven and Brahms.

We will meet on Thursday March 5 at 8pm in the Castle Village Community Room to listen, learn and connect with the pieces that will be performed the following Sunday.

On Sunday March 8 at 5pm we will attend the MOSA series concert at Our Saviour’s church on 189th St. and Bennett Avenue.   The concert is free.

The works on the program are Beethoven’s “Ghost” Trio and Brahms’ Horn Trio performed by Ensemble ACJW.

Ensemble ACJW is sponsored by Carnegie Hall and the Juilliard School and performers are young professionals who are top-quality performers who are also engaged in musical outreach in public schools and communities throughout the New York area.

Pianist Dr. Maya Hartman has performed internationally and has years of experience teaching music appreciation. As winner of the Pro Musicis International Award she performed at Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall, Pickman Hall in Boston, and Salle Cortot in Paris. She has served on the faculty of Stony Brook University, City College, and William Patterson University.
